Rhapsody for String Orchestra (1990)
Part of the CD-booklet-text by Mario Beretta: A similar atmosphere as in «Suite Vaudoise» is contained in the slow introduction of the «Rhapsodie for String Orchestra» in which the complete thematic material of the work is presented in a germinal motive. Elegiac motives are woven in counterpoint, and describe the meditative feeling of a natural yodel singing. These motives reappear later as melodic elements of the quicker part of the movement - dancing and strongly archaic, where irony also has an important role to play. (Mario Beretta / Transl.:Dr. Robert Grossmann)
